the blokes at the spring resetting place will tell you everything you need to know, otherwise jump on a 4wd forum, or go to the wreckers with a tape measure, might find suzuki sierra fronts or something work well for you,
Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated.
Ill be heading down to the picky's for some extra leaf.
Im guessing you would add an extra large leaf to the existing? Or complete swap? Out of a hilux? or another wagon? Can anyone list model etc?
Anyone know prices of spring reset?
Thanks,
Alex

Make sure you have a long enough sender bolt (pin that goes through the middle of the whole pack) to go through your extra leaf/s. Otherwise your diff will slide around.
Came time for the leaf flipping today.
No luck at all. A mate told me you could just completely flip the pack temporarily, until i get them reset but the spring mounts proved him wrong. Unless there is another way of inverting them? Anyone have pics at all?
Alex
Im assuming it hit part of the "front mount" for the leaf packs when flipped?
Well obviously your mate knows very little. Don't worry, relatives are often worse at knowing things.
If you could completely flip the whole pack, it would lower the car by about 950mm. Too much. The idea is to take the whole leaf pack apart. Turn one of the shorter leaves around, and put it back together. A fair bit of labour is involved with hammers and stuff, but any farmer could do it.
Then a day later, you may decide to do it all again, but have 2 leaves turned over.
With 1 leave turned over, it takes a bit of effort to get the pack back together. You need vice grips and clamps and stuff.
You may find you have a very thick helper spring at the bottom, which may not bend much at all. This comes into use when you carry firewood in the back. For any motorsport and lowering of the car, get rid of it.
Cheers again Jonny.
When you split the pack and flip them you put them on top right?
Whats the reason for getting rid of the helper spring? even for drift?
Cheers,
Alex
Generaly, you take the whole pack apart (is only 1 bolt) and will have to pry open some of the metal tags also. You remember where it all goes.
Then you select 1 middle size leaf and turn it upsidedown. For the pack to go back together, you may have to grind off a rivit or 2.
The assemble the pack exacly as it came apart, as much as possible inless you have a clear idea of what your doing.
This will result in the car being lower. Test and see.
With some wagons, not all (I know this with KE36/KE38) the bottom leaf is very thick. It is a helper spring, and would hardly bend at all. At normal ride height, it does not come into play. Only works with a full load. If you lower the car, this helper spring then comes into play even when the car is not loaded. The result is, normal driving on a smooth road is ok, but once you hit a bump the helper is loaded (which is a massive stiff spring, one that the shock can't control) and will kick the back of the car up in the air, loosing traction also. Get rid of it if you have it.
at tafe are you jonny lol
Ok i now see how all this works. Did it yesterday with great results. If you flip the rest of the back (medium and small one) will it be even lower? Cheers for the help Jonny, oh and the camber top nuts.
