Being a 20v it should be going hardest up high in the revs.
My silvertop certainly did.
hi guys im toying with the idea of boosting my na 20v just wanted to know would the motor handle it or would i need to rebuild the motor im only lookin at putting a ballbearing turbo off a standard s15 onto it and run no more then 10psi. the car goes really well down low im just missing that edge at the top end.
any inf would be great or if anyone has done it what experiences have you had doin so.

dont get me wrong it dose go good for what it is but when your drifting with s13 r32 and so on that can grab 3rds down the straights i have a hard time keepin up im either ringing second gear or third just dont have it in it unless i have rediculas entry speed. what about fitting a super charger to it would that give me the extra edge up top end that im chasing????
Well funny you should mention that, My new 86 is a ze with a larger pulley and 4.1 diff ratios compared to my old silvertop 86 with 3.9's.
I know exactly what your saying, with the 20v doing ok but not great.
As far as my ze 86 goes, I know slide all of qr in 3rd or 4th compared to 2nd or 3rd in my old 20v 86.
BUT, the supercharger seems to significantly beef up the mid range but not so much the top end, so you end up using lower revs.
I think a blacktop with ze would be a great setup, the s/c would help get the revs up to the power band end of the rev range.
And in saying all of that, my mate turbo'd his 4age (16v) with a 1.25 mm head gasket and it shits all over everything I just mentioned.
Just remember that a turbo or s/c will kill that NA limiter loving fun.
I agree it will kill the hectic 8500rpm bounces but if it gives me that edge I will sacrifice. How hard is it to adapt a supercharger to the bt20v. What type of revs would I see???
a centrifical supercharger would do the trick, very expensive though

yeah sam that would be awsome but im tryin to do it on the cheaper side, i mainly want to know
1 if i turbo it can i just put a thicker head gasket in it and run about 7 to 10psi through the standard motor??? if yes what size h/g would you run
2 ive been told an sc12 or 14 supercharger will bolt straight onto a bt20v just need to fabricate brackets is this right??
and if yes do i need to run bigger head gasket on this also???
i think for my application for what i want to do i should go the turbo way as im happy with the low end its just the top end im chasing abit more power to hold 3rds and keep up with the boosted cars
so you have a blacktop? well you would want to have an awesome tune and low boost. Thicker head gaskets are in general a bad idea but as much as I hate to admit it they can work. I think fitting a SC based supercharger is a bad idea because they don't give you top end much, more low and mid which is exactly where you don't want it due to detonation issues. If you do go turbo going for something on the larger side with a very low boost wastegate would be the way I guess.

You can run 7-9 psi on a stock blacktop 20v, with the s15 turbo.
Aftermarket ecu tune and your pretty set.
6boost shell turbo manifolds aswell, which make it easier.
Expect alot more torque and approx 140 rwkw.
Just make sure you get small to medium piping and intercooler to reduce lag.
well i already have a haltech e8 in it and i also have fitted some 272deg cams so with that baby huffer on it and do the piping get a re tune id be happy as larry with that type of power what about the head gasket size though MR 86 how much bigger would i go???
