    Default 3sge Clutches

So i'm trying to get myself the correct exedy clutch for my new motor.

    Beams 3sge with W-57 gearbox.

I Got a price from the supplier at work for the proper Altezza clutch, and they definately stuffed up because the price for the clutch kit (no flywheel) was $1900.

So now i'm trying to get a part number from an equivalent car that will still work with my gearbox engine combo.

My flywheel will take up to a 230mm clutch, but most of them seem to be only 225, (not that this is probably very critical)

So does anyone have any ideas on models that will work for my application?

    Cheers

I took my flywheel down to the parts store and verified one kit that works here in the states:

I built a reference sheet for exedy clutches and I think this one should work for you: TYK-6311 (also available as heavy duty/cushion button - TYK-6311 HDCB)

Just add a double row spigot bearing: 5201-2RS or equivelant

what model car is the TYK-6311 from?

the MA46/47? because we didn't get that in aus to my knowlege

*EDIT* Looks like it's anything with a w-series box in it, but the spline size is different to what is listed for the altezza, 28.9mm compared to 29.8 on the altezza

WTH! When I made my sheet it showed 29.8

Hmm... just took a quick browse the exedy.com.au and even on cars I KNOW have a W5x it shows the 28.9 instead of 29.8.

    Typo?

Yeah, that clutch fits Tarago/Hiace with 3/4y's, hilux with 3y/4y/22r's, MX7x's, Soarer's etc.

quite possibly, seeing as they didn't even have the specific altezza listing in the price sheet when i rang about it.

is there a flywheel diameter that needs to be worked out? the only other problem i can see is that they don't make a hyper single clutch kit for the TYK-6311, which is the one i need.

Hyper single kit for Altezza = TH03SD

    Parts in TH03SD:
    Clutch cover = CH11S
    Disc = DH07D

Problem is, you need a hypersingle flywheel... do you have one?

The other one will work with a stock flywheel, or any aftermarket replacement for an altezza from japan. If using a W5x.

don't have a hyper single flywheel,

just checked against xtreme clutches listings,

they list the celica and altezza at the same size shaft - 29mm

    whereas exedy have it as

celica, supra, tarago (anything with a w series box) as 28.9mm

altezza, and a few of the other possible ones - 29.8mm

so now i don't know what to go off... i thought they were the same size and so did the guy at xtreme when i spoke to him.

having a look at stuff now i think a cushioned button should work, but not sure if they are comparable to the xtreme ones. (hopefully the springs don't fall out of the clutch plate like the xtreme ones do)

If you want to know if they're the same, and why I know it's a typo. Take a look at the clutch alignment tool... they're the same part #.

Altezza J160 & W55-59 have the same input & output spline IIRC. I don't have a J160 to compare anymore, but at one point I did.

ok so that clears that up.

now will the flywheel size be the same overall diameter if the clutch sizes are the same?

    or do they vary?

Flywheel size is usually the same O.D. size if it has the same size disc. I think Toyota tends to use the same flywheel ring gear with the same size disc.

What flywheel do you plan on using/already have?
