    Default R31 or MX73?

So I am looking to buy pretty soon, and am keen on either a series 1 R31 or MX73 cressida. Which is the best for something mildly shakotan and slide-able?
    For R31 I'd be thinking:
    - S13 coilovers, R31 LCA's, custom tie-rod etc set up to correct S13 geometry.
    - Thick rear sway (Maybe dual?).
    - Lowdown (like tucked exhaust, <100mm rail clearance, not legal).
    - Some form of OEM Nissan rear spoiler-lip.
    - 15x8 -15ish fronts, 8.5-15ish rears.
    - Stripped, Nardi, Brides.
    - Stock RB30, falcon throttlebody, breathing mods, oil cooler, chipped maybe, simple.
    - 4.11's, locked.
And probably build on it from there, doing little things when they need to be done.

    For MX73, I'd be thinking:
    - AJPS coilovers 8kg front, KYB AGX 8way rears, 6kg rear springs.
    - Lowdown (like same for R31, low low low).
    - Some form of chin spoiler.
    - 14x8.5 -10ish fronts, 9 -5ish rears.
    - Stripped, Nardi, Brides.
    - Freshened up 5M-GE, new bearings, seals, etc etc, cleaned up and shaved head, reground cams.
    - W58 conversion, decent clutch.
    - 4.11's, locked.
Same deal as with R31, build on it from there.

So, what are your opinions on each car? What pathway should I go?
Kind of a useless thread, but help will be appreciated.

    Ryan.

im thinking r31 due to the extra power from the rb30, but in my opinion series ones fronts are ugly so you should go series 3. but on the other hand not many people do mx73s and they are cool with the right goods.

i think it comes down to personal opinion so go with whatever you feel is the right car to pimp the fuck out of

Both cars sound amazing, i love simple mods, simple style, simple yet amazing results, r31 sounds hot sauce to me man but either would put a smile on my dial, plans sound pretty spot on for both

    mx73 for sure.
but i own one, so of course im going to say that also with the rear you would want something stiffer then 6kg.

R31 as manual conversions for mx73 aren't cheap

R31 parts are cheap and easy to get shit for, so if you intend to be replacing panels/motors/parts frequently, probably better for drifting on a cheaper budget as S13 stuff bolts in.

mx73 look cooler, have IRS for mad cambers (but squat like a bitch on hard accel), come standard with a reliable 4.11 diff, lots of interchangeable parts from supras, celicas and soarers.

personally, i'd take an MX73, but i don't like the R31s that much, so i'm a little biased. also cause i know most toyota shit off the top of my head

on a semi-related note, there is/was a mostly complete R30 sedan at wacol wreckers which would be a mint car if built.

It's a pretty hard choice hey. There is really not much separating the two from each other.
I'm leaning towards R31 as they came out factory manual and i have a spare RB30 sitting in my shed at the moment.
But then again, MX73 is... Toyota lol. And they are just so sexy.
R30 would be very cool to do, some bogan kid has one just down the road. It is auto and has twin exhausts though, which makes me want to vom.
Does anyone have weight statistics for each car? I'd be intrigued to see which is lighter.
Oh, p.s. If anyone has any other ideas for a "mildly shakotan" street slide-able vee-hicle, feel free to share your thoughts. My price range is about 12k, give or take.

I'm 17, red P's. If I was on opens I would be looking for something a lot cooler.

    MX73.

But you could find something much cooler for your price range..

Like c33 (na) could even get an GX7/6 imported with like 1gge with quads etc for that price.. SOOO much cooler.
