    Default OS Giken twin-plate clutch

Hey everyone I am just getting my gearbox rebuilt (W57) and have just ordered my nite parts bellhousing and now I'm in the process of buying a clutch. I was wondering if anyone who has driven a AE86 with the twin-plate OS giken clutch would be able to tell me if they have any positive/negative things to say about them.

I have driven a supra with a HKS twin-plate and dont mind it to much I understand they will make more noise (rattle) but just curious if there are many people running them.

Also if you have one would you be able to tell me if anything needs doing other than just bolting it up, as I have read on the OS giken site there may be need for adjustment

That quote is taken from the OS giken website.

    Thanks Brent

ive had a super single. didnt like it much. i did have it recondition locally. but it was extremely grabby.. like a light switch. no good unless its a track car only in my oppinion.

if thats what you want then go for it. im assuming you have decent power if youre using a W box, but a puck style clutch on a 212mm flywheel will probably still hold the power most any 4age (/gte etc) will make and be a lot easier to drive. and easier on your driveline.

+1 as above a mate had one in his Silvia. He said it was making good drivers look amateur as they were stalling it everywhere
The most important thing is balance. What is power without control?

    OS giken > everything else.

    have one in my silvia.

as long as you have a light pressure plate, it'll feel relatively stock. they're featherable, more so than other twin plates i've used (ORC/HKS/URAS). last much longer and are easily (cheaply) serviced as OS ship replacement parts to australia.

W box you'll be fine. xsoarerx (John) has been running one behind a 1J on a W box for aaaages, drifting, kicking it, and driving around, no failures to box or clutch.

dim, that single was violent as, how many boxes did u go through with it?

1 or 2. i agree maybe for a silvia/anything else OS seems to be ok from all reports. but i reckon their 4a effort is just way OTT.

Hey guys thanks for the replys I have had a look into the twin plates a little more and being the only twin plate they make is a racing version so unlike the silva being able to get different types (versions) of the twin plate the ae86 only comes as a heavy pressure plate (racing) version I may try a 5 puck to see if it will hold up.

Thanks again to everyone who replied.

Unfortunately clutches that are smooth and easy to drive normally =/= clutches that take lots of abuse. So any hardcore clutch is never going to be daily driver material. Just lucky that most sprinters have neither the torque nor grip to need anything really over the top.
