    Default Wolf 3D Vs Adaptronic

Ok after finding out my TRD ecu is poop im looking at what to run now.

The 2 main contenders im looking at are the Wolf 3D V4X and the Adaptronic e420c, now I dont completely understand what each one has over the others.

The car it will be installed into can be seen at this link:

    Link to Wolf ECU:

    Price: around $1400

    Link to Adaptronic ECU:

    Price: around $950

The car is my every day car and will never see the track, because of this I want a bit of fuel economy.

Now, what do you use, what are the good/bad points of it?
Out of these 2 what is value for money? (considering its only my day to day car)

    Cheers

I laugh at wolf3D, everyone i know who has one has had issues. Personally i think they have a vandetta against toyota's

But then again, im a happy owner of an adaptronic.

FYI, the price to forum members on Adaptronic E420's is $890. Well, it is through me at least. I cant say much about the wolf's as I havent really attempted to use one, but there are certainly plenty of toyota's on here running well with Adaptronic's so that has to mean something. Let me know if you need any specific info on the Adaptronic side of things.

Oh man, wolf's site sucks so bad. Hard to navigate(who puts menus on the right hand side of a page?) and no technical information about the V4X AT ALL.

Went to "Wolf V4X - PC Software, Manuals, Brochures and Videos" hoping to find a manual and there's just a link to the PC software. Maybe there is a manual in there but it doesn't even say if there is or not.

Adaptronic lists everything. and proven many times. Always hear about their good customer support. Adaptronic's site is much nicer to look at too.

well both of your choices have issues, Wolf as above although it's probably more likely about the older versions and Adaptronic as we have few tuners in our direction. Try talking to these guys:

and see if you would want your engine tuned by them. Ask them about quad throttle and 20V tuning and say no not the Audi and see what they say.

    Wolf want $1400. WOW..

    adaptronic
    or
    Microtech
OR.. if your feeling like you want a GOOD ecu, get a Haltech Platinum sport 1000...

I just bought on of these. Have yet to wire it up and see how its goes but my tuner LOVES them.. Which is saying alot becuse he used to hate Haltech with a passion..
Haltech really got there arse into gear.. great product and good support.. plus just about everything you buy from them comes complete.. Eg you buy a sensor. it comes with plugs and pins.. ect.
Even the wiring loom comes with rellays and fuses already wired in.. I know for a fact Microtech doesn't do that.. I doubt any of the others do too. Ad getting anything sorted through Microtech is a pain... Especially if you buy from the WRONG microtech dealer

spoke to a couple of wolf tuners and one was a dealer for them. they all said they are shit unless you rewire the factory harnesses. the only way they reckon the wolf reads well is if each sensor has its own seperate harness including power supply

having said that tho when i did my adaptronic i did the exact same thing. and the adaptronic was awesome.

i may be biased. but i dont see why there is even a need for discussion. this forum and HR are at a guess at least 80% of the hachi drivers in Australia. and a large majority of them use adaptronic on their various 4age's. and seem happy.

hardly anyone uses wolf. and in this thread alone.. well.

i wouldnt really consider anything else. the price is also not an indication of quality. it is not really a "budget" system. its just a budget price.

I figure that if everyone uses them there would be a good reason for it.
