hey guys just lookin at some opinions on what ive done, had some stiff as shit gas struts sitting in my shed, got bored last nite and decided to fit one into the engine bay from strut tower to the block ( strut compressed of course) now any negatives on doing this? will i have the same effect as an off the shed strut to engine brace? have i done something good

thats kool, i wanna try it
45AKEN you might be right on that, didnt think about it. might see how high i can put it, might have to end up moving it cause the way my RWD water setup is i can mount a SC on it if i decide to
i have something that would be perfect.
its a gas strut from a volvo truck seat. its short stiff and compact with eyelet bearings on both ends.
i suggest going to a truck wreaker and grabbing a 2nd handy
somewhere like the lift hooks on the motor would be great.
also the other side may be more effective as the motor will tend to twist that way with the throttle.
for mounting you could bolt a bit of flat bar to one of the strut top bolts.
i more so put it on that side cause it kinda pushes the motor away from the clutch master where my trumpet hits. just kinda gives it that little extra. i have another one so i was thinking of puting it on the other side. car is gonna be used for hill climbs and a bit of drift so the mounts will be copping a fair flogging
cool man,
well either way if in its normal state the strut is compressed then it'll force against movement both ways.
if you got some flat bar and bent it like this

you could bolt it to a bolt on the left strut top and it would give you a nice sturdy mounting point for the strut at a good height too.
