    Default Removing OLD 4ac

Hey guys, got a ae71 today with a fucked motor, but came with a spare 4ac, tomorrow im going to attempt to rip out the old fucked motor and put in the new one, just wondering,

    1. Is it a hard job because i have never done an engine conversion before.
    2. Should it be as easy/easier to put the new 4ac in??

    Any advice would be appriciated

nah man, if you have trouble remembering, grab heaps of photo's and label stuff. not to hard, then undo or unbolt what needs doing then do the reverse putting it back in

um.. dunno, took me bout 2-3 hours to remove a similar engine, similar amounr of time to put it back in. if you've got help you'll have it done in a day. while it's out should chuck a 4age in her haha

Allow a full day, maybe 2 if youve never done it before.

While its apart change the serviceable parts. Im talking front main seal, rear main seal, cam seal, timing belt, tensioner, manifold and carb gaskets, clutch if need be. Hows the waterpump looking? If its tired change that or its goodbye motor. Its much more fun out of the car, as I'm sure you realise. Nothing worse than an oil leak.

Depends though really. If your gonna pull it out in 6 months and fit a 4age then just do what you have to and get it done. While its apart check the throwout bearing in the clutch and the spigot bearing in the crank and change them if need be. Those fuckers cost 30 bucks max for both trade and can squeak and annoy you very muchly.

A good trick with ae71s is to remove the gearbox with the motor so you can do the bellhousing bolts out of the car. Those top two owe me some skin and 2 spanners.
