no it will restrict it know end ,even with just the mesh will cause problems
could you just jam some uni filter foam in there instead of normal foam?
no it will restrict it know end ,even with just the mesh will cause problems
so it'll restrict it more than if the sock was on.
I put some fine mesh in my trumpets, and it seemed to feel like it was a massive improvement over the uni filter socks. Though I also changed to longer trumpets so I cant pick which made the most difference...
I know the mesh distrupts airflow and bla bla bla, but went from choking up my street, to being able to pull easily from low revs.
longer trumpets will pick up the bottom end response and more down low torque
yep, ill try them with the filters again though to see if it makes any difference

I should really come on here more often.
Thanks Sam. My intentions were indeed honest.
What's up your ass, mate? Yeah, I did it for the looks as well as trying to offer a solution, i'll be the first to admit it. Because as I stated, my opinion is that socks look terrible, congratulations, you can read. So, I tried to create something that did a job of filtering whilst not looking shithouse. If you think i'm under the deluded impression that these will work better than conventional socks or a filter box, please direct me to the section of the write-up where I said those words. Because in my mind, I never said anything of the sort. I did not say that these are God's gift to intakes, nor did I say they were perfect. But they are far better looking than a gay red sock hanging off the site of your throttles, and offer a slight improvement of filtering than running an open trumpet.
It's obvious to me that running a filter box / plenum / socks will offer a superior filtering solution. However, I want to see my trumpets, but I don't want to sacrifice sucking a rock into my motor for the sake of aesthetics. Thus, this idea was born.
It's a given, if you put anything that restricts the airflow to the intake in any way, you're going to lose some power. Socks affect airflow. These will affect airflow. Once again, I didn't say I collaborated with TRD to invent something revolutionary. But i'd rather have a mildly restricted airflow than a rock rattling around in my motor.
Next time I suggest asking for clarification before presuming my intentions.
Word! Ah... graffiti. The good old days.
Good amount of work done and some nice thinking. Congratulations on doing something other than building a catalog car like most of the twats here
But the chances of you sucking a rock into the engine is 2/5ths of fuck all. Its the fine dust and dirt that is your enemy. Trust me i know about dirt and dust.

Thanks friend. Haha, true words.
Yeah, that is indeed true.
And for all the people curious as to if i've run the car with these on, yes I have. But to be honest, my testing isn't comprehensive enough to offer a 100% airtight opinion, in my books.
I'd like to reevaluate the foam in the future and possibly try different combinations.
At the time of writing this, I just picked a foam that was of medium density.
I'd like to try this with the abovementioned idea of using proper unifilter foam, to see if there would be better results of filtering, it would make sense that there would be. I would be prepared to lose a little power if it meant I was actually filtering out dust and crap.
I'd also more than likely use filter oil as well, to trap as many small particles as possible.
