Default Is it ok to grind off a small amount of my LCA so it will clear my brake rotor?

Well, I've just fitted GReddy coilovers to my 86. No probs there..... I also have the 'Hopper Stopper' brake kit on the front....

Now, I have gone to put a wheel on, but the brake rotors are just hitting the end of the LCA. Not by much, it would only be a few mm.

Either, The spindle spacing to the strut base must be slghtly differant compared to the stock struts that I was using before.
    Or,
that part of the LCA was sitting 'inside' the rotor before, as I didn't have the RCA's before..... I cant remember how it was before.....

Can i just grind off a small amount of the LCA to get the clearance? Would that be a problem?

    Here is what I mean.....

    Thanks

Just knock the very edge of that lip off, I wouldn't go past 4-5mm though.

Should be able to hit the / angle of the metal so it is flat, and when the suspension is compressed, ie weight of car on it, it should clear. Same thing happened to me with Corona struts and brakes using AE86 PS arms. Just took a small amount of metal off with a grinder, and then hit it flat. Has worked fine for the last year and a half.

off topic question, do you have a standard swarbay? if so does the caliper pin hit on the swaybar on full lock?

Yeah, standard swaybar. Nah, doesn't hit at all. It's not even close.. a good 2-3cm away.... BUT that is while its jacked up. I dont know if that will make a huge differance........ i wont have the car off stands for a few dayz yet....

You will have to grind metal off the sides aswell, as the rotor follows the axis it will hit it still.
I had to do it when I put rx7 brake kit on mine. When I upgraded to XT130 arms I cut out a 10mm thick 60mm diameter (I think) ring and welded it in then ground back. This was underneath to support the load as I needed to take that whole lip off and that is where the strength is. If I can find a pic of it I'll throw it up.

OK I found a few of what I did.
Lil off topic but just thought I'd add that the front susp, brake setup, LCA and PS arms will be up for sale soon if anyone is interested.
