    Exclamation 4age conversion wiring

    HELP!!!

Has anyone here done their own wiring in a ksev 4age conversion? I've searched all I can and the best I can come up with is ecu pinouts for the jap 86 ecu(the one I have)

Like I said the motor is from an 86. I've got it turning over and tested the spark which is ok, I think I have power to the ecu but I'm just guessing with wiring going off the ecu pinouts I got off 4agclub.

I'm sure someone on here must know how it's done. I'm definately not taking it to a sparky tho.

    Thanks guys.

Nah i've got a vl pump running straight off the battery to try and get it going. I've given power to the stared solenoid and the efi part of the ecu which helped a little? It was firing on number 4 cylinder but I don't know what's going on now?

I'm surprised no ones written up an exact guide to the wiring side of things?

    ignitier wiring?? faulty igniter possibly

if its getting fuel and spark on number 4 then it has do be something to do with ignition...

if firing on number 4 then the coil is working

    maybe try new dissy cap??

I did write up a guide on the old website, but well its gone now. I don't know why the old website could not just be left as a reference like old toymods.

Make sure the yellow injector wire labled BF (on the 10pin plug) has 12V on ignition. If not, Tap a 12V ign wire into it to force it to run. As long as the 3 main ecu wires (B+ and B1+ have 12v ignition, and Batt has constant 12V), it should run.

If the engine has been sitting for a while, spray a bit of start ya bastard in the tb when cranking as injectors on these engines tend to get a little stuck after a while.

I don't think it would be possible to do up a guide, at least one which can help heaps of different people. Because all the looms are different, sure you can do a rough guide, but it wont be specific enough for most.

The best way to learn really is to sit down with a bunch of wiring diagrams and nut it out. Through them you can learn roughly how EFI systems work and ultimately you'll be able to put it all together with ease. The first ever loom I did I got it 100% correct bar one tiny thing, forgot to bridge 2 pins in the KE70 fusebox (4AGE wiring was integrated into standard fusebox and the original one deleted). And because I had actually learnt how the whole system worked it was easy enough to find that one bit I forgot to bridge.

The point I'm getting to is, following other's instructions is all good and well, but you'll be screwed when something doesn't work. Before I started on it, all the knowledge I had was very basic circuit logic. The rest I taught myself through wiring diagrams.

Bearing that all in mind, where are you located? AE86 loom into KE70 isn't very hard, I could do it pretty cheaply if you want.

nikkojoe: yeah injectors sound like the most likeley culprit. Last night I got it to run... On one cylinder tho? So my guess is injectors need cleaning or something like that. Maybe once I've finished I'll have a go at writing up what I did to make it run.

Golberg: yeah I live in sa. I think I've got the wiring sorted now just a case of fueling every cylinder lol.

Golberg: I agree and dissagree, basically once you know exactly what you are looking for, most of the 4a's are generally setup the same (ie all need the same things).

I mean once ECU has 12V power on ignition and Battery, both sides of injectors have 12V on ignition, and coil/igniter have 12V on ignition it should run. The only other bit is alternator wiring, but that is virtually the same across the board.

    Good to hear

All my engine conversions so far (bar the gze) have not been running in 1-2years before i give them a crank. Injectors tend to get stuck and one by one each cylinder fires until they all fire into life. Another way is to stick them into thinners for a few hours, helps to clean them out also
