Default RacerMelbs Soon to be Beams Powered AE86

    Hey Guys

I have embarked on a little project with my son, we a hoping to build a good super clean AE86 that is practical and brings together some of the new technology available in today's cars, and is down right fun to drive, and should make a great first car for him.

    The story so far

Bought the car off ebay, still cant believe we got it as cheap as we did, and am amazed how clean and tidy the car is, it literally has no rust at all any where, having spent a little time around these vehicles it really is a rare find.

The guy who owned it was the second owner and bought it off the old lady 12+ years ago, it has always been garaged and is a credit to both of the previous owners, has books and full history.

The car has suffered a minor impact to the RH front, but on the week end we sorted that out and so the build can begin.

    Purchased
1 Set 15x8 Max Sport -0 wheels in silver
    2 of 195x50x15 front tyres
    2 of 205x50x15 Rear Tyres
    1 Aluminum 52mm Radiator
1 Set BC Gold Coil overs
1 28 spline Disc Brake rear
1 Brand new JDM Kouki Levin front bar
    1 Kenwood DVD player
    1 Momo Steering Wheel
    1 2004 3SGE Beams engine package
1 AJPS Front 4 Spot Brake Conversion
    Set of HKS Gauges
Assort Braided lines and Speedflow fittings
Plus SH Guard, Bonnet, Headlights, Grille, ect

    Pics So far

Thats the build so far, I will post up more as it happens, and as parts arrive and we work on the car........AE86 the ultimate Racer....Guinness Book of records holder of 85 class wins from 85 starts.

    Cheers
    Jon

so fucking jealous. I followed this car the whole time it was on auction as its an exact twin of mine, same colour, build date and spec.

In the end I was worried about the damage, I'm glad it wasn't life threatening to the car.

    good luck with the build!

looks good but do you really think its is smart/safe to let a 17 year old rip into it?

unless hes been in go karts since before he could walk i would be hesitant to see him pull out of the driveway in it thats for sure...

Why? My first car that i built and drove at the age of 16 had 500HP at the treads, scares you senseless so you drive it like a granny, if the Kids there building it with his dad every step of the way im sure he will be more then careful/anal while driving then say if he bought his son a brand new corolla.

With building comes understanding, commitment and responseabilty. I can see what this Dad is trying to do as the same was done for my Bro and i

    Keep it real!
