Default R31 rear disc brakes -> ae71 master cylinder

    Hey guys,

Just a quick query, I wanted to see if anyone had any opinions or experience with such things, chasing some different opinions.

I have installed some rear disc brakes out of an r31 skyline to replace the shit drums. All freshly rebuilt with new seals etc, but I was curious as to if my standard master cylinder will be up to the job of keeping up with them.

I plan on installing the bias valve out of a JDM sprinter to correct the bias ratio now that the discs will be more powerful than the stock drums and that I don't want to lock the rear up all the time, but apart from that, would I be ok running the standard master cylinder? Or would it be in my best interest to look at other alternatives? I am assuming that the standard MC should be ok, but better to be safe than sorry.

I obviously don't want to fuck about with brakes and want to set them up properly and safely.

Any input or opinions or past experiences are sweet.

    Thanks.

unless the piston area is far larger than the front calipers you will not need to change your MC. You will however need to change the rear bias as the amount of fluid moved and brake leverage has now changed.

Or on the bias valve take out the bolt from the bottom of it and remove the spring, etc. Thats what I did as the jdm bias valves are getting rare and expensive.

I agree with the above, rip the guts out of that bias valve and put it right back where you found it.

If that doesn't work you have to install a brake bias adjuster

One question, are the brake line fittings the same for the R31 calipers?
