16V Small Port / Bigport Head Question

I have a complete 4AGE with small port bottom end and an AE86 Bigport head.
My question is, if I was to run a 4AGE loom and computer which one to run? Bigport loom and small port ECU or all bigport?

Or is it better / easier to standalone instead.

If this has been answered before please send me the link as I could not find it.

I don't ever remember this topic coming up in the forums before so your safe there. Now this is second hand information that I was given from a friend who was told by toyospares by memory. They said a smallport will be well on a bigport management.

The way I see it is that I can't see it making that much of a difference, but hey it's not like I know about this subject

use the bigport loom. the main reason being the dissy... must use a bigport ecu for a bigport dissy, cos thats what its expecting.
other reasons are plugs... pretty sure the injector plugs where rounded on one and rectangular on the other.

mechanically the engines are pretty much the same and can be run by either loom/ecu... its just the bits hanging off it.
if you've got the smallport dissy, injectors and sensors... you can use a smallport loom/ecu.

well I assumed a change of injectors because I think they are different impedance

I don't even think it would matter wat loom and computer u use on wat port. As long as the loom plugs into the computer of course. and the plugs for like injectors and sensors etc plug into the correct ones I don't see y it would make a difference.

i believe that the big port loom is different to the small port due to the big port is map sensor with t-vis and the small port has the airflow meter but if the only small port piece of the engine is the block and the rest is big port then run the big port loom and ecu

in my thinking you will get better results from the engine if you have a big port engine with the small port block only cause the small port block is stronger

smallport has knock sensor

you wont be able to use bigport loom with smallport due to knock sensor, and bigport has no knock control obviously.

i guess you could run bigport loom and ecu and have no knock control, but kinda defeats the purpose of putting the engine in there.

dont forget to do something with the oil drain on the block if you use the bigport head

Yea I have the drain blocked. Its in the middle of a rebuild and was actually running a smallport dizzy. I have a chopped up loom but no computer, so just trying to figure my options out.

I'm running a long smallport on a bigport ecu with a bigport dizzy. Never had any issues other than running a little rich. As stated, if you have a smallport dizzy run the small port loom and ecu. For the injector plugs I'm not sure what differences there are but I'm sure if it was an issue you could always grab a soldering iron and swap plugs over. Surely this would be a better setup with the benefit of flowing more air with a bigport head and the extra compression of a smallport block.

ran a complete small port with all bigport management, works
