Fantapants, the Howe design will still need an adaptor to be made similar to what I have made.as you still need to replace the nose of the gearbox with some sort of blanking piece that will house the oil seal. Milling time is not that much of an issue, especially on a CNC machine. The main advantage is the symetrical bolt pattern, and hopefully a larger diameter centre hole for the W series box. i have ordered one and will see how it goes. i have had a quick look at the commodore unit, but it is horribly expensive.

if you use the "racing" model, absolutley, but the standard model for stock clutch only replaces 1 bolt on the gearbox facing and shims to set the "height" of the bearing. There is no fixed mount so to speak.
RIP Carly - a smile to light the world.

Yes, send them through. I am having a good look at the Howe racing bearings also as they offer some advantages.

This idea is brilliant. Removes the need to use a "JDM" bellhousing as theres no clutch slave to get heat effected or prevent the use of off-the-shelf Jap extractors.

Keen to see developments on this.

yes it is a good idea and I was going to offer an off the shelf T50 kit for it but I figured I wouldn't be able to sell it just because it wasn't JDM enough, damn fanboys

Definitely works Stain. I currently use this exact bearing on my GTiR and on some clubmans using sierra gearboxes. The principle is sound and tested, i am just trying to find the most cost effective way of doing this. Thanks for the pic Sam, Your post yesterday reminded me we use the exact same setup on a clubman I just finished using an LS1 with a 6 speed. I just need to measure the inside diameter of the bearing to see if it will fit the W5x series gearboxes also. I think if the GM bearings were reasonably priced, they would be good. I think I will stick to my initial design for the T50, and will research the GM Vs the Howe racing road bearing for the W5x series. Will update people when I try them out. I have 2 different Howe bearings on order.
