Ok Sam. I just measured a W5x input shaft off a 3uz hilux. It measured 28.1. If the GM bearing is 28.5, then it is a close fit. If the bearing sits down lower below the spline, it should be ok. Does the unit you have come with a bearing also? Interestingly, the bearing I am using for the T50 measures about 27.7mm.

the end of this unit is a bearing in itself, it's thin as but it must work for the ford guys. I have a document one of the clubman guys sent to me with specs buts that's for the T50

Hi Johl, I am still waiting on some bearings from the states. As i said in an earlier post, the bearings I use for the T50 series box is too small for the W series box. i have tracked down a bearing which has about 0.5mm clearance, but i am a bit nervous about using this because of the tolerance. I have drawn up all the bits i need machined no problems. If you are prepared to pay $500, I can easily use a tilton style bearing, but I am trying to source some more economical bearings. They are available. I will update as soon as I have any news. I am waiting for one to finish 3 projects of my own.

Been burnt too many times with group buys. I can get a pretty good price for the bearings, and I have a CNC mill that will do the machining pretty easily. Once I get everything working well and i am confident it wont fail after a few uses, I will post details. As I have said, i have 3 W series box conversions of my own, and 3 T50 conversions on the go now, so it is worth my while to get this right. If it helps others, bonus.

I have priced the T50 unit, and roughly priced the W series, but I dont dare mention prices or use the word "sell" incase this post i deleted, but the prices are quite reasonable I thought.
