    Default S13 SR20det gearbox/clucth issue - wtf is it

Looking to see if anyone can shed more light on an issue that began yesterday with my Daily Feroza running an SR

After getting in the car after work I noticed a really odd grinding feeling (hard to described accurately, but its not like a crunch when you don't clutch all the way or miss a gear)
This feeling is felt through the clutch pedal when releasing and also through the shifter when changing fear, most prominent when going from 1st - 2nd - 3rd and a little in 4th, only when the engine is running obviously and the car is moving...
Down changing this arvo into 2nd I also noticed it was a little crunchy/grindy going into gear.

I find it odd that it just started happening after the car drove fine all the way to work in the morning.

The clutch was replaced about 4 weeks ago with a new heavy duty exedy plate and high clamp pressure plate if it makes and difference... The box was filled with Nulon smooth shift 75-90 oil and a tube of G70.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

    Cheers
    Niz

Hard to say much from what you describe, but could it be a siezed/dodgy throwout bearing. A check for that is that everything will be fine with the engine running, box in neutral and clutch out. Press the clutch in and it gets whiny/grindy/stalls.

yeah thats what i was thinking.

A loose bolt(s) on the pressure plate will cause some of these symptoms

hmm loose bolts, didn't think about that, although they were all torqued properly, flywheel had locktite used as well... so not keen on taking the box out again...

Throwout bearing is a brand new Nachi item so shouldnt be anything wrong with that, plus it dosnt whine ect.

The strangest thing is Ive noticed also after driving around some more is that it seems to come and go, like be worse at times and sometimes feels normal.... ???
I am missing the inspection plate on the bellhousing which would allow debris to get in, but it feels like an issue with the gearsets in the box more than anything, its just not really consistent which is making me wonder wtf

Also the engine is solid poly mounted which could contribute in some way possibly?
