Default W5x in AE86 - which back housing?

Ello boys and girls, first post since the forum shift...

I've got a W58 in my AE86 behind a Niteparts Bellhousing and 4A, obviously. Now, my gearstick comes up just a little too far back than I'd like, and a very good friend of mine tells me that there's a fabled other W5x out there with a different gear stick location, that should be interchangable.

So my question is... what's this bitch off, so I can find one?

    Or ra60/65 fits

You need one with the shifter in the middle of the thingy. Theres Front/Mid/Rear/Remote shfter locations in the w5x range.

Do nightparts bells come with spigot bearing spacers?

i was under the impression that the sa63 shifter puts the sifter in the right position for an ae86

So this fabled SA63 w5x "gear housing top thingy that holds the shifter" is the go?

Niteparts is NZ based. Forget how I got my bellhousing, lol, think I had an email address for Brendan ages ago. Actually, come to think of it, think I got mine through a group buy on toymods.

As for this spigot bearing spacer you speak of biggo? Well, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Mine looks like the furthest back one, more than anything else. The guy I got it off (from Supraforums.com.au) said it was from a JZA80 non-turbo, and it definitely seemed clean enough (without looking like it'd been cleaned) to fit that too...

    *shrugs*

Castlemain Rod Shop have a heap of accessories for them too. Look:

    cut shifter hole.... problem solved

come to think of it i did the w58 conversion in my car a while ago behine my old 20v, i didnt even need to cut the hole... the shifter was really close to the back left of the hole but didnt hit, you should be fine but...

w series boxes come with 4 different shifter positions

    front/middle/rear/ hanging over the rear

mine was the one just at the rear, unless you have the furthest back one you should be fineand even then u wont need to cut the hole much

the jza80 box has a remote shifter. the set up isnt pictured in that link. its quite a rare part.. dunno how usefull it is though. will be too far back for me. i thought you had an ma61 w box, cos i remember you wrecking one. i am guessing if anything i might need to come forward a touch too. so cant help.
