    the original toyta gas struts have no other way to remove them apart from undoing the ball joint from the body..

    you will need a 12mm spanner for this, its needs to be slim and good quality, otherwise you will have trouble and round them off like jonny

    I ended up getting new ones for AE82 liftback. ML4320 Monroe.

    You can get AE86 specific ones from Super cheap auto, thats where I got mine, struts australia is the company that make them $30 each strut

    definately need a 12mm spanner to get the original struts out by unscrewing the ball joints.

    G & R Industrial Products in Collingwood can get you struts for about $35 each including ball joints (I bought two for my AE86 and two for my Commo for $150 all up) - ask for struts that are 595 to 600mm in length and 400nm pressure.

    I have the same problem :-/ what did you do after you cut the ball off?
