[QUOTE=sr_rolla;2477]gunbz-r don't assume that a square car is the best way to go, the best ratio is 1.7:1 as in 1 being the track width and 1.7 being the length so for example if the car is 2m wide for example the wheelbase has to be 3.7m long for the best handling. A ae86 has this ratio standard, if you try and make the car more square it will turn in really well and be very stable at slow speeds but be extremely nervous and difficult to control at speed. QUOTE]

This thread is awsome.. i was thinking of going S13 front recently because im going to fit R32 brakes all round, thought it might save making a custom bracket for the front caliper. but after reading all the geometry affected in throwing all the s13 gear in.. im now sticking with the 86 setup... ive had the chance to look under beau yates car and appart from rose joints and a few adjustable bits its all 86 gear.

Ratio... this is great ive never heard this before, just wondering with Track and length where are they both measured from and to?
track from hub outer to outer? and length hub center to center?
how much increase in track can u have before it has an adverse affect on handeling?
i dont want to run any +ve offsets .. dish is the win ...

and if going big brakes what struts should i use.. something with a tougher stub axle

    hmm 16's and 250rkw... yummm!!

Its measured from the center of the tyre contact patch to center of tyre contact patch. For the struts i'd use either the XT130 strut and the hilux/pug brake upgrade or use RA40 celica struts and make everything custom.

knowing how much is to much with regards to track is kinda touch and go, it takes testing and what not. What i would do, instead of running massive negative offsets, run stupid fat wheels. that way u have the dish but the center of the contact patch is still pretty close to where it should be.

personally i'd go with either bilsteins or koni yellows, you can easily get them, they are locally rebuildable and are both of decent quality.

I would look around and see if there is a company locally that can rebuild TRD's tho, i think they are tokicos (not sure). if they are then im sure there has to be someone in aus that rebuilds them

    i recommend,
    -2 to -2.5 camber
max out castor (its like +3 standard arms)
0 to -1 out total toe

i have test alot of different setups on my car cause i was a wheel aligner and have found this setup to be the most responsive yet still streetable

yeah on ke castor arms man.
they can cost anywhere for $40 to $65 depends where you go and who you know
just tell them the specs you want and ask for a printout when there done to ensure its done properly
