    Default half cut into KE70?

    Hi all,
i was thinking of 4ageing my KE wagon. just wondering whats the best/easiest way to go? i probably be doing most of the work myself. i was thinking of getting a JDM 86 halfcut. if i get this what else will i need to get and what kind of $$$ am I looking at? also where would be a good place to get one from?

    thanks, Kieran

Just go to the wreckers and find a twin cam AE82 (if they have one), pull engine out. Then buy a RWD intake or cut and shut yours, get someone to do the loom (send it to sprinter86 in Melbourne). Then put it all in with the usual stuff you will have to change, such as 4A cross member, AE71 pedalbox, etc.

You'd be struggling to find a jdm 86 halfcut anywhere these days.

MATT99: only reason i wasn't thinking of that was because of the hassle of getting the parts needed that way,
how much do you think it will cost that way?

FWD bigport with loom and Ecu $800 - $1000.
    RWD intake $250ish.
    Loom modification $200ish.
    T50 gearbox $200 - $250.
AE71 pedalbox (HARD TO FIND) $200.
    4A cross member $?

It all cost a bit, these are just average prices of what they sell for on here. I managed to find all mine cheaper. Sometimes people sell it all as a package, that would be good to find.

    Put up a wanted ad.

    just a tip

whatever you think its goin to cost....multiply it by 2, and add 90% for good measure

    i just finished 4age'ing my ke70

cost me a WHOLE STACK more than it was supposed to, some of it bad luck, but mostly just stuff that i didnt account for.

and i got parts cheap as well, but stuff just kept coming up that i needed to pay for (200$ in the last few days for injector cleaning and new spark plugs, for instance)

i have a running list of what ive spent, and so far its up to 2700 and that was with a VERY cheap engine. (i did have to replace headgasket on it, but it is still cheap even then)

    but dont worry...its worth it!!!

i would recomend getting an engine from a reputable engine supplyer, with a waranty etc. that way if its bung you just go and get another one!

If I had my time again I'd DEFINITELY get a half cut (if you can find one). If you're somewhat pedantic like me and want everything perfect then it works out a lot cheaper to get a half cut.

It also means all you have to find then is an AE71 tail shaft and manual pedal box, that's all you'll need.
