they have beams in neal bates corolla here. well had if toyota were still funding rally. there were rumours they were gonna release a s2000 corolla with a beams pumping out 195kw NA awd (based on bates car but non-turbo) but that has been denied.

    damn worldwide economic crisis.

turbo yeah you could justify the removal of it, but for NA, its kind of ripping off the best aspect of the motor really.

I have a feeling Neil Bates deleted the VVT also, as VVT is more usefull in a daily driver and not realy worth it in a race car? I could be wrong.

And if VVT takes alot of time and money to set up, consider those cars are in Thialand, which is a huge effort in itself.

itll be more easy to tune and have less things to break if they removed the vvti. torque wouldnt really be an issue because i dont think the car would ever see less than 5000rpm. the vvti would be pretty much useless

Bates and Evans Rollas are is N/A... and have been for a couple of years... I'll get the pics. I go past that workshop so often its not funny.

He has had to let most of his staff go too. from 10 to 3 I think.

    Default s 2000 regs

in this class you cannot use vvti are only aloud to have 13.5 to 1 and have a single plenum as well and 12mm of lift and use a sequential gear box and power is from 6500 to 8500 nothing under 6500 and are producing about 165kws there abouts .if they could use vvti then they would as it moves power around every where and they could drive it from 4500 up to 8500 thats the difference

when i spoke to neil he said they were running single plenum as you said, but also a restrictor on the plenum of 30 something mm, and that they are able to make over 190kw with vvti removed, not through their choice but through rules,

dual vvti is a piece of piss for them to setup and tune, and would if anything make their life easier!

also he has already been racing his s2000 class car with a beams for some time, i have seen it racing in the flesh twice. have videos somewhere i can upload
