this thing looks so damn good!
cool colour! lol
its my hatch twin!
Not much has changed recently.. I'm in the middle of swapping out the smokey old smallport for a fresh one.
Pulling the head off the old one, piston 4 is farked, and there was oil buildup around cylinder 3:
Also I have a 4AGZE off at the my machinist getting balanced and rebuilt, and will be installing it mated to a W58 around the end of the year!
Unlucky! Freshy will be sweet.
Well worth doing a rebuild...
Shame about the motor Andy, but it sounds like it will be better afterwards anyway
Did you want me to drop the tailshaft at yous Dads place so you can grab it this weekend? I am leaving friday arvo.......
1974 MX22 MARK II CORONA HARDTOP COUPE - Awaiting a full restoration
Yeah the smallport that is going in looks to have been rebuilt recently. Welsh plugs and gaskets look minty fresh.
Last night I pulled out the old block, and started swapping over the sump, engine mounts etc. The aim is to have it on the road again for the next TCCV meet on th 19th.
Jojo, thanks for the offer, but plz don't go out of your way to drop it off! Realistically I won't be making use of it until the end of the year, and I'll be in town a few more times before then. That said, if you were driving through Belco, then feel free to drop it off at the front door
How did you go about painting the bumpers? Just a light sand and some bumper paint? Or did you prime them as well?
Hey Jake, the bumperbars started out unpainted. I gave them a good wash, wiped them down with Wax & Grease remover, then painted with cans of "K&H Bumper and Trim Paint" in satin black!
I only did around 2-3 coats, however if I was to do it again, I'd do a few extra coats on the front bar - as it now has some spots where the paint has come off from rocks etc
I have some painted kouki front and rear bars I want to paint the same way, and am planning to get them soda blasted first to remove the existing paint. Don't use paint stripper!
Edit:
Here is how the car currently sits, you can see above the number plate where the paint has come off. I'll be fixing this as soon as the weather gets a little warmer Should be jamming that motor in the car in the next couple of days !
Also recently bought this. I was going to use it at work... but now I'm not so sure I want to!:
