Thread: Pricing Querry

    Just trying to get a general idea of what some of you guys have paid for the 20V conversions into the spinters...

    I was quoted around $4k - $5k.
    which includes
    - The engine (complete and running)
    - Mild Rebuild
    - Microtek Ecu with wiring Harness
    - Extractors + full exhaust system
    - New belts all round
    - New bearings
    - Water pump + alternator rebuild
    - Quad Coil setup
    - All labour included in cost.

    He said a max of $5500 for the whole lot ready to be driven away. Just needs to be tuned.

    As far as I can see this is a fairly good price

    Any input would be great.

    that deal sounds half decent just wait for a few replys and ull soon know if its hot or not.

    Sounds a little too good to be true, esp if it includes a mild rebuild.

    Which model 20v is it?
    How many kms on the supplied engine?
    Which model Microtech is it?
    Hopw is he doing the water lines?
    Does this price include fitting of the ECU?
    Whow much is he charging for tuning?

    He doesn't do the tuning but has recommened me to someone who has done all of his tuning over the last 4 yrs. He's currently running a 20V turbo pushing 207kw at the wheels. Scarily enough I got to stand there and marvel at the engine for some 2 hours while we talked about the conversion.

    I can get all the part details tonight. I know it's one of the more recent microtek's with the self learning ability. So I will be able to drive it to the tuner (no need to get it towed)

    Silvertop 20V
    He's currently sourcing the engine trying to find one with minimal K's on it. I'll be able to explain in more detail tonight about the water lines as well.
    Price includes everything I need to drive it to get tuned.
    Price also includes Mobil 1 oil - When the engine goes in - at 500k's - then again at 2000k's

    After seeing what he is able to do. (Photo album's of other 20v's he's done)
    I'm considering booking it in before Chrissy

    i belive you should do it yourself but thats me..a true hatchi purist..no time like the present to start learning your car..firm beliver in built not bought..

    that sounds like a good price..if your going to rebuild anyway, get a motor that is really really cheap..that actually needs a rebuild..saves money..

    I'd love to be doing all the work myself...
    A) I live with my parents who let me use the garage or shed
    No tools apart from the basic socket set and a hammer
    C) I don't trust myself just yet. Not with this

    I think they go for 5-6 grand installed but normally not including rebuild, so 5.5k including rebuild is a very good price.

    to take a 4age out of a sprinter you need a 17mm, 14mm, 12mm spanner....the rest is plugs, and hose clamps etc etc same for install.. ha ha sorry i don't mean to play devils advocate..but you really do learn a heap if you try it yourself..get your hands dirty do as much work as you can..even if thats just taking the old motor out..

    Just from what i've read taking a 4AC out and replacing it with a 20v isn't as simple as a 17mm 14mm and 12mm spanner...

    I'm currently putting a 4age in a ke55. That's my build project I don't mind bending or breaking bits and having to replace parts in that car. The sprinter I don't wanna wreck nor do I wanna leave it sitting and collecting dust when I could have a perfectly fine 20v running in it. It's just the way I see it. I'm doing the suspension brakes and diff upgrade myself over the next few weeks so getting dirty isn't what I'm worried about.

    Hopefully she'll be up and running before Xmas.

    i agree with mattysshop if u know how to use basic tools why not go for it i started on my dirt bike and now i can pretty much do most mech things, wiring is my next big step
