Today i took my battery off to put on my other car because the battery went in it. So just to make sure it was the battery before i bought a new one.

Anyways, then i put the battery back on and now the car is completly out of tune again. Wont idle, and is backfiring all the time. Then when it stalls, the fuel pumps turning on when it wants to. This is like the 4th tune in 3 months, its fkn bullshit!!!

Does the MAP reset when the battery is disconnected with these stupid MICROCRAP computers????

It should not be the batterys fault. Check all sensors

My MTX-8 seems to keep it's memory when you disconnect the battery. It only looses the info on it when it is disconnected for a longer period of time... i left mine off overnight and it seemed to be fine, dunno if this is the case for the new computers though???

    Thanks for the info guys
This ecu is given me nightmares. Took the car to the shop today (barely made it there) and Mechanic says the computer will hold the tune if you d/c battery. By the looks of things the computer is effed up sumwhere, he went through the map, then tried to start it and now its not even sparking. Hopefully it gets sorted

It should have an internal battery/capacitor to keep the memory alive. Mabey that is dead. Didnt you have a problem with it before and had to send it to the distributor?

Kick up a real stink, tell them it has been causing problems from day one, and tell them that this time you dont want it repaired, you want it replaced. Its obviously a bad unit. Tell them how many times you have had to go and get the car tuned because of the ECU stuffing up, and tell them that if they do try to fix it, and it fails again, that you will be taking action to make them pay for the tuning costs.
This sometimes happens with processors/computers. It might be that the board wasnt heated to the right temp when the ECU was made, causing a heap of solder joints to go bad, or all sorts of things. Either way, you shouldnt have to deal with it.
