Thread: Where to weld..

    Ok, i searched around at a few threads tryign to figure out where i i weld my aus spec s-series diff. and i keep getitng mixed answers.

    I pulled the diff out.. just need to knwo what else to pull apart to get the best lock.
    any input/advice/ dos donts/ pics will be helpfull..

    hmm im not sure mine was welded when i got the car. aparenlty people fill it up with old nuts and bolts and weld all that shit in so it doesnt break or someting, so ive herd anyway

    ewww S series diff's r POS's to weld. uw ont be able to wedge much of a plate in there at all, just grab the mig and fill the star gears up!

    Woodwoolf - your diff was welded, i was there when it was getting done.

    Yeah im going to mig mine. just not sure what the bets way is.. i dont belive in throwing bolts in.. im more then happy to pull apart the whole diff if it means getting the best lock out of it.

    so you think the strongest method is to weld up the star gears?
    i dont know anythign about diffs.. let me do a search for some diff pics and see if you can point them out to me..

    Yep see in that pic how all 4 spider gears are welded to each other and its outside cover. Do it like that.

    EDIT: make sure u do both sides

    some how i think that aint an s series,

    cos mine just had 4 holes that u could see the spider gears,welded done

    thats just not right in my eyes

    what happens if the weld comes undodne when you driving, does it jsut fark up or you can still drive or what
