You need to get an electronic dizzy that came off a carby car (mechanical and vacuum advance), such as that on the 22R Hilux, 2T-GEU, 4K-E, 4A-C AE82?, 5K, FWD Gemini, Holden Shuttle etc.

Then, with both the mechanical advance dizzy and the 4A-GE dizzy in your hand, and a good working knowledge of both, you can go to work on making it fit. May need a lathe, hammers etc... I am told the 4K ones come closesed to fitting.

For linkages... always a problem. It will be custom to some degree. Pay A LOT OF CARE to this. The whole "Webers go out of tune" thing came from people doing sloppy jobs with the linkages.

Alternatively if you've got a complete 4age with loom and ecu, hook everything up and just don't run the injectors. The ECU/ignitor will take care of advance and dwell. I'm 99% sure that the ECU doesn't require any feedback from the injectors, so not having them connected shouldn't be a problem.

You can also use the ECU to drive the fuel pump through the COR if you choose to do it this way.

I haven't thought about this too hard, so do some more digging, but initially it should be sound.

Are you planning on hotting up the motor? 'Cos 45mm Webers on a stock 4AGE might be a bit much.

i agree, living proof, ive got 45s on JDM bigport, doesnt idle, midrange has 4 or 5 flatspots in revs, 3-7 is normal, but daily driving rarely sees those revs.

im planning to now build a 7age and that extra displacement will fix up a lot of the problems with my Air/Fuel ratios.

get 40's they are more than big enough for even a decently modded 4age, you can get the chokes increased in size anyway, as i can get the chokes decresed on 45's but no matter which way you look at it, 40's will be better, they will be jetted pretty much perfectly for your engine, where as ive had to stuff around changing jets and everything else...$$$

BTW. ive got a Scorcher Ignition system, mech advancing dizzy and coil. bit expensive too, i think it was $370

You can use the stock 4age dizzy and just use a bim024 ignition module , you wount have and advance but who cares for 4 bux fix to the problem.

    OR

You can also use a ignition computer like a msd, crane, pro comp etc etc and keep the std 4age dizzy and you'll a have programmable ign with all the features advance, starter retard, rev limiter and plus larger spark etc etc

Who tuned it? sounds more like a poor tune and poorly set up carbs, 45's would work fine with the right size choke on a 4ag perfectly fine, just advisable to use 40's

    just get 40's with 34 chokes, unless it's a 4.5ag or 5ag or larger i highly doubt you'll need 45's.

    a 40 with a 34's will flow better then a 45 with 34's.
An engine with a large carb thats choked down will make less power then a engine with a smaller carb thats choked up.

Yes you will get rid of the AFM, but if you're asking that I suggest you don't attempt to put the carbs on yourself.
