A long time ago i thought about s/c oil, thanks for reminding me
all is good except no one has really ansewered m y question
Toyota sell the stuff if you are stupidly rich. Or just use some very light engine oil (maybe 0W or similar).
Basically the exact oil isn't too important. It just lubes a couple of meshing gears. Don't stress too much about it.
Hen
you dont think thats an answer to your question?
i said toyota sell the stuff
i said ring them
i said if not use a thin oil
what did i miss????
I just stripped and rebuilt my 1G-GZE super charger before I installed it onto my 4A-GE. I used MOTUL 300V competion light gear oil.
It is basicaly an ester based extra light weight hypoid gear oil. The gears in the superchargers are basicaly small hypoid gears under constant high load. So this type of oil should suit the aplication perfectly.
Plus I did the smell and taste test. The new oil smells and tastes the same as the old stuff (terrible, lol). So it should be a very similar oil.
