Just wondering if the brake boosters on sprinters differ from each model or they are all the same??

Replaced mine today and now there is alot more throw in the brake pedal before the brakes work. But the brakes are better than they were, sounds strange, but thats whats happening!!!

They'll be identical, especially with the same part number. Did you bleed the brakes properly afterwards?

Yep. We bled them twice just to make sure.

If the boosters are the same, what else could it be??

How long has it been since the calipers were redone, I had spongy shitty brakes in my sprinter until I put seal kits through everything and it was fine after that.

Like I said, the brakes are awesome when they are on. But there is just too much free play in the brake pedal.

this may sound stupid but have you adjusted the rod at the top of the brake pedal?

Yep we tried adjusting the rod at the top of the pedal. It did nothing!!

Just got back from the brake shop then, there is a part inside the booster called the retractor pad(i think thats what he said), and anyway, it has fallen out and now is sitting in the bottom of the booster. So now the pushrod that goes into the master cylinder is sitting a further 25mm inside the booster. So the pushrod has to travel that extra distance before the brakes start working. That is why there is so much play in the brake pedal before the brakes engage. 4 hour turn around on a rebuild, and my sprinter will be as good as new.

Just thought I'd let everyone know what the problem was incase someone else has the same problem.

    Thanks for everyones comments.

Anyone that has similar problems, go to Brake and Clutch Supplies at Rocklea. Ask to talk to Phillip, he knows his shit!!!

    Thanks again.
