As the title states 'Toyota Genuine parts Vs After market parts"

    What is really the difference???
    for Example "Oil filter"
you can go to Super Cheap Auto and purchase one for a Sprinter and it will cost like
$10 and at Toyota it costs alot more.???
Is it because of the brands??

Sorry if this might b a dumb question

    Cheers

well the genuine toyota stuff is going to be alot better quality than a $10 supercheap job.. and thats prettty much the same with alot of the genuine parts.. but they also like to charge an arm and a leg more than some stuffs worth

Ryco oil filters have a anti-drainback valve too.

Ryco and Wesfil filters (oil, air and fuel) both meet oem requirements for pretty much all manufacturers. I've always used Wesfil filters on mine and my family's cars and have never had any problems with losing oil pressure. I don't think I know anyone that has?

with the oil filter issue, at my work (holden) we are instructed to use genuine oil filters
only on later model toyota's as we have fitted oil filters to `98+ cars only to have oil pressure problems

however saying that i use osaka filters which i buy for bout 6 bucks and had no problems

That's interesting, we use Wesfil filters exclusively in our workshop (unless they are unavailable in which case we use Ryco) and we have never had a problem? That's interesting to know anyway. It would probly be heaps more important on newer vvti/vtec/etc equipped cars than our old 4age/4ac motors!
