does it idle? or did it pop fart carackle and boom?
check your leads are around the right way.. and you have put the dizzy in the right way if you have taken it out..
well i stried to start my car today it is a blue top q4age with a map sensor.
it kicked over started for like a second and a big ass flame out of the intake where my filter goes.
i am thinking it has something to do with my cold start injector and as for not staying started something to do with injectors.
any help???

yep it just snap caracled and fart oh and flamed out the inlet
the timing should be good i have been moving it while trying to start it the spark leads are in order 1-3-4-2 right. i have a 4age workshop manual. its like the injectors are not continueing to put fuel in.
is it possible i have the injector wire backtofront.
yeh 1342, but have you made sure that the dizzy isn't out... by a tooth or more.. and the leads are actually going to the right cylinders...
back fires arn't cos of lack of fuel... spark at the wrong time and boom..
i had a look today and im 80% that the dizzy is on propper. the timming might be out a little but not enough to not keep starting. once it back fires i cant start it again i have to wait a few min and then it goes again.
coild it be my cold start ignighting fumes in the intake?? i dont know much about cold starts.
if my wiring was back to front eg sending a pulse to the wrong side of the injector this would explain it not continuing.
like i said i dont know too much about efi. just having a wild newbie guess.
the cold start is just like another injector, unless it is seriously fucked it wouldn't cause it. (light it)
chek the cam timming
yes... it's not fuel... if it back fires thats a good thing.. it's getting fuel..
put your motor on TDC and check the punch marks in your cam gears.. and pull the dizzy out and alight the dents in the shaft with the dizzy body..
ok feel like worlds biggest dickhead i had no1 and no2 spark wire wrong way around.
now it starts but soon dies like it doesnt have constant fuel. im almost sure it has something to do with my injectors.
my fuel pump is good it is pumping fuel and then still pumps for abit when engine stops.
if i leave it for like a few min the engine will fire up again and then die
Looks like your having trouble in all the same places that I did when I installed my 4age.
Sounds like your getting fuel from the cold start injector, and then the main injectors arn't taking over.
Unplug the start injector, and see if it'll start on just the main injectors, if not, i'd say it's a problem with your fail safe relay wiring.
i know its not my fail safe because i dont have one i didnt put it in because it was giving me grief so i bypassed it.
well just after posting before i turned the idle screw thing down (clock wise) then back to where i found it and bang it started ran till i stopped it by myself. so all is good i have a few more questions and thoughts about my wiring if any one is intrested in discussing it can you add me to your msn
