    Default AE86 Dash Clock disassembly

    Hi Guys

I know this might be a very simple question to ask but it's bugging the shit out of me.

How do i get the dash clock out of the dash with out braking the cover?

I have crached the clock cover trying and don't want to brake it anymore. When i get it out i'll have to glue the pieces back together.

    Thx in advance.

Smash it out. New one is $15, but only in black.

I remember being told back in year 2000, that you can't buy the clock surround anymore, and its a very expensive second hand part.

Then only a few years later, a kid working at a dealership ordered a bunch, got on the forumz, and sold them for $45 each. He did ok for a while.

Seriously, once you've already cracked it, just give up there.

I had one, which I got out and it had one crack through it. Glued it back together then. I then proceeded to accidentally drop it and it shattered into 7 pieces. At which point I drove to Toyota and bought a new one.

They are just so brittle I think you'll find it'll shatter when you try to push it back in.

They come out easy as when new, but when old they just crack. Best way is to get on the sides of it from the inside, that is:

    Remove the cluster surround trim
    Remove cluster
Feel where the metal tab is for the clock surround and push it in
Go to the other side by removing glove box which may allow you to get your hand up there.

stick a ziptie down each side of it that will push the clips in then give both zipties a light tug and it will come straight out

i have done this... came out in 20 seconds

i then got stoked i got it ut without breaking it and sold it
