just get a GZE bottom end and turbo that with a big port head. it already has the goodies for some boost and is heaps less hassle.

but, i would use new rings, bearings machine block. at a minimum.

    bigger injectors and fuel pump

you should never have a budget, you always go over!

Best Bottom end to start with is the AE92 smallport or AE92 GZE as they have the strongest factory rods of the 4A Series. Get a set of 8.9:1 AE92 MAP or AE101 GZE Pistons, +0.5mm Oversize. Get the blocked bored to suit the pisons. If you are after big power later on get ARP main studs and get the mains tunnel bored. Buy a set of ARP rod bolts and get the rods closed and honed and balanced. Also you should probably get the crank crack tested and balanced. A dynamic balance with rods/pistons/fron pulley and flywheel would be worthwhile as well. If you do all this you could probably get 300hp reliably from the bottom end.

while that is a good thing to do to any 4age engine is it really needed for 150Kw at the wheels if a 4agze is used? also why would the rods need to be touched if the revs arnt raised?

I'm currently rebuilding my 7 rib block, and head, and basically i have come to the conclusion that i would be better off buying an engine that is already completed as these 4A engine are relatively cheap.

After stripping the block and getting it crack, honed, etc than you have to make sure all the parts are there and fit to spec. And basically balance the lot because if you get it wrong well...... there goes your money.

Its a lot of fiddly work...

But good luck if you push thru.
