Sand it back and re-clear coat it. Or sand it back and paint it black.
yeh but if my factory finish is flakin off what can i do
Sand it back and re-clear coat it. Or sand it back and paint it black.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
never done this before so what do i use for the clear?
Clean the rims up with some alloy cleaner (Chemtech Blitz works well) then hose them off and clean the residue with soem wax and grease remover.
Then paint the black recesses with caliper paint. Its a bit thicker and harder wearing than regular paint. I didn't mask my wheels off (not ma's, just a set of cheviots) i just wiped the excess paint off the spokes with a rag dunked in thinners. When you are doing this make sure you only have just enough thinners on the rag - you don't want it dripping, just sort of moist with it, if you know what I mean
Then just get some autosol/purple polish/fancy pants Maserati stuff mentioned above and polish up the parts you want to be shiny alloy
Probably take you a couple days to do it properly - hope this helps!
yeh helps heaps i will get pics of mine up and u can see the condition
Sorry mate I misunderstood you about the clearcoat. If you polish the alloy up you won't be able to clear coat over it, it won't stick
I would suggest giving them a go over with scotch brite to get rid of the coating, then polishing them
Mine are like a really dark grey colour. I think they look cool in this colour.
heres what mine looked like when they arrived
heres what they look like now, the best pic i have of them atm
sorry its such a shit pic
still wanna shine them up some more and paint the small lines on the spokes and the centre square bit where the wheel nuts go
hope u like them
