massive help mate! (N)
anyone know? as i dont wanna be blowing engines!
also how to tell if ecu is from 4agze?
usually the rocker covers will have super charger written on them if it is a gze motor, however these are easily and often changed. just pull out the ecu and have a look. it will have a sticker on it saying what engine it is for. ecu's are usually easy to look at, just have a look from underneath the glove box.
yeh as previously stated it is way more worth your while starting off with a gze. so i would suggest leaving the bigport in your car and buying a gze and put it on an engine stande and building it up from there. bang for buck, turbo is the way to go if ur chasing power. but if you have driven one with a super charger you will know how good the instant torque is.
where abouts do you live? i'd suggest going out and atleast be taken for a drive in both turbo and supercharged options, and maybe even convince them to give you a steer.
if u want anymore info just ask away
stroked 2L ca18-ae86 in the build...eta xmas 2012?
awsome info man!
i live in adel.. would love to c the difference between turbo and supercharger..
will sus out my ecu on the weekend..
i got 2 ecu's one in the car and one that was in the boot with extra pieces.
still can find out if it has a 4age or a 4agze!!!
one way you can but you wont like it...
remove the head... and you'll be able to see the pistons and theres your answer
it will cost you....
120 headgasket (mayaswell chuck a TRD 0.5mm one on)
150 head bolts (i dont care what anyone says i always replace after taking off the head)
150 - 500 torque wrench (if you dont have one get one a wise investment!)
coolent & oil timing belt if it hasn't been changed in the last 100,000km oil and air filters
and prolly a full saturday
thats what i would do.. but im more inclinded to think you ahve a 4AGZE and the person you brought it off i dare say blew the turbo or was on P's and didn't want to attract to much attenion so blocked off the oil lines etc.. and was going to upgrade when the time came
also check your ecu it would have a sticker with 4AGZE on it or very least a serial that you can google
enjoy i hope this helps
