    Default re wire ae86 new igintion etc

    im going twin carby in my 86

    how much of the oem loom can i get rid of and just simplify the loom etc

    i just wana run f/r lights
    gauges, tacho,oil pressure/temp, water temp fuel level
    front window wipers

    will need aftermarket igintion, any brands to recomend?

    If you started with a ARL AE86 (Australian specification) then you will want to keep most of the loom just the way it is. The loom is fairly basic and light as it is. And you need almost all of it.

    The only things you wont use are:
    - 1 wire to auto choke
    - A/C wires and switches
    - wire to rear wiper
    - rear wiper switch and water squirter

    I think it's better to leave the loom as a uncut part in this case.

    I agree with jonny, and as far as engine loom goes, i would get one made, its not very hard as there obviously are very few wires to hookup when u go carby.

    As for ignition i would go (and i will be getting one soon for me carb'd 4ag) an MSD-6AL and blaster 2 coil, about $5-600 last time i checked but well worth it imo. it also has an inbuilt rev limiter which you can also fiddle around with but if you're feeling cheap on egay there is a moduel for about $270 but its prety basic..

    cheers for the help, the msd 6al and coil pack isnt expensive

    will be nice to drive with when its tuned
