this is when i got it. I paid $1000 for it from a guy in Sydney. He threw in a 2nd set of rims, and a brand new $500 Pioneer amp. It was completely stock except for chopped pedder springs, and a chrome air filter on the carby.

after a bit of a tidy up, and installing a bigport 4age.

...the red sprinter ..... I bought it like that for the motor and the diff!

At first I didn't think the rust in the chassis was v.bad until 2 years ago after I had installed an alarm and central locking. It was all working perfectly. I left it on the street that night, and the next morning I came out to work on the car. I went to unlock the car via the remote and nothing happened. wtf.gif .. So I unlock the car with the key and inspected the central locking unit that was sitting in the passenger side kick panel, only to find that it was full of water rant.gif It had been raining during the night, and I found a rust hole about the size of a 10c piece behind the front quater panel passenger side, then the same on the drivers side.. So the tear down begins!

    stripped to it undies

    yea i cant weld...

    installing a GT4 radiator

to start with, I made some custom lower brackets out of sheet metal and some U-bolts.

I cut the old mounts off and grinded back the remaining metal.

    cleaned up the brackets

mods for the top brackets. flattened out where the drivers side bracket needed to go, drilled new holes and weleded nuts on the underside

    top mounts done

finished! its like it is meant to be there.

progress from last weekend. Finished off the power steering setup, and installed the engine and drivetrain.

hopefully I'll have the thing running in a week or two.

    jeez, nice work!

always a awesome thing to see a car teared down and started from scratch.

is it me or is that steering rack a powersteering one?

I looked at this thread with 56k and lived! Front end is looking very tidy. Were your chassis rails tearing where you welded the wedge in to the firewall? Also, what is the bar between the ends of the chassis rails?
