Just got my hands on some ae86 struts, the disks themselves are in pretty rough condition... should come up sweet with a machining, however i also have to find some calipers for them

Seeing as iam currently running Ra60 struts and vented disks with some decent pads on them, i am wondering how possible it would be to fit the Ra60 Disks and calipers to the Ae86 strut.
Seeing as i wouldnt have to machine them, find calipers and theyre just better in general it would save me some time and money.

If anyone has done this, or just generally knows if this will work or why it wont replys are appreciated.

Also, with the ae86 disks, once unbolting the disk from the backing plate should it just come straight off?
Mines stuck on there tight as anything so not sure if there is anything else to take out.
Hopefully these pics explain my second question better

The RA60 disc has a very slim hat. You need an adapter plate to bolt them up to sprinter hubs. Don't know about the calipers - I have Volvo 4spots on my setup (that uses AE86 struts and RA60 discs).

Once you undo the 4 bolts holding the disc to the hub they should come apart. It might need some "persuasion" if it is all a bit rusty...

    ok thanks mate
this adapter plate that you speak of, where might i be able to find one of these. Still keen using the Ra60 disks as they are generally better in my opinion.
If i cannot find those, would i be able to use the current (Ra60 im assuming) calipers on the Ae86 disks? That question just comes from you saying that your are using volvo capilers on yours.

the round bit in the center at the back where the discs slides in gets clogged with dust over the years..just put a screwdriver in between the backing plate and the disc and like pry it out on 1 side then the other side and then back the same side and again until it comes off..thats what i did with mine and then at the end i put my foot on the round bit and pull the discs off..and then i fell on my back when it finally came out

my attempt at mating ra60 discs and 86 struts involved a spacer at the back of the hub, technically it will work but itll be a bitch to balance and make another pair of spacers. the attempt has been shevled untill i get an oxy....

I'm not sure I understand your problem??> if you already have RA60 struts with vented discs etc, why would you go backawards to a Sprinter set-up??
Anyhow, the RA60 and similar models use larger wheel bearings that wont suit a sprinter stub-axle. The bolt-on caliper adaptor on a RA 60 strut, wont interchange with Sprinter, and vice-versa.
    does this help??

Yes that clears it right up, thanks terryo
You will find alot of people beleive Ra60 stuff is generally shithouse. So Ae86 stuff is the better choice. PLus theres PS arms and coilover conversions in the cards

Does anyone have a picture of back of a sprinter caliper mounted on the disk? It would be a great help to me

    Thanks
