    Anything can be used. Just need an adaptor for the bellhousing, the right spigot bearing and maybe some playing with the clutch.

    T50 = easy
    W5* = "common" and parts are available for it
    Anything else = custom, pain in the arse

    Yeah what Hen said!

    if it's NA, bolt a T50 to it.
    Else, W55/6/7/8 boxes have off the shelf Bellhousings (Dellows, niteparts, etc.) for a decent cost.

    Some people have put the J160 - the Altezza 6-speed and it's variants (as found in the MX5, RX8, S15 200SX) behind 4AGEs, but it's not an easy path and quite extensive fabrication & engineering skills are required to do so. The results however are very positive.

    Unless you are converting to 4WD or a rear mount transaxle a'la Formula Atlantic - most other boxes would be a waste of time money and effort, especially something like an RX7 box - which the rotary guys bin and put W58's behind their big HP 13Bs....

    Are you having problems with your W58?
    S15 6 speed to suit 4A on jap auctions, bloody expensive.

    JI60's from RX8's and such arent designed for huge torque loads either really.... i know, i rebuilt 1 for an RX8.... done like 50000km and syncro rings werent in good shape, and main bearings were noisy.

    the reason i asked is cos i'm building a gze and wanted 2 find out if there were any cheaper alternatives to going to a supra box...
