    Howdy Lads,

Now im not gonna be whacking a turbo on my car anytime soon!!!!

But im wondering what is needed for a turbo to dropped onto a 20v silvertops....now i know u will need GZE bottom end etc but i wondering about a full list of crap needed to i can price everything up later down the track.

I wont be looking for big power just more torque so something like a T25g or T28 turbo would do the trick im guessing.....and what sort issues are u faced with when doing a turbo conversion for your car....and what will the limits be.

I already have a motec m4 so i got the computer all sorted out....which is a big expense already covered.

    Thanks guys....

we know the obvious ones, other stuff to consider though would be

custom plenum (keep quads, or switch to large single throttle body)
injectors 1jzgte injectors fit from memory
    bigger fuel pump
oil and possibly coolant feeds and returns depending on what turbo you use.
you already have an oilcooler, but a decent radiator would be helpful reliabilty wise.

like you said ECU and ignition wise you're pretty sweet, you got a daily or is this it? do a ZE bottom end if you kill the silvertop one. get it tuned right and it coul i stress could be reliable. NA SR's survive turbo'd if they are tuned well, and Beau's lasted a lot of abuse too before it spat.

other things to think about too are clutches, boxes and diffs but yeah t series LSD would last. t50's normally don't, just collect some spare boxes!!

ZE bottom end is good but not necessary. Simon Michelmore was getting 150rwkw with 9psi (from memory) on a stock ST bottom end.

I thought this had been discussed 500 times. But my thoughts are:
    - turbo
    - manifold
    - dump pipe, exhaust mods
    - IC and piping
    - new airbox to throttles
    - oil and water feeds and returns
    - retune

And depending on your current setup and plans
    - injectors
    - fuel pump
    - clutch and box

supercharger would be harder to do.

i'm pretty sure the supercharger and cradle would foul on the quads, unless you fabricated a new cradle/bracket.

you need most of the above stuff still anyway

You will have to fab up a new top mounting brackets for the SC (If you got the ze one), you can mout it farily far back from the motor

But same things less turbo stuff (dump, exhust oil )

Oh yeah, remember that your bottom end is the same as a ZE bar the pistons and rings. So if its healthy, a $550 set of pistons and rings in either 8.0 or 8.9 CR dropped in will be better than a 2nd hand ZE bottom end.

I am unsure about interference-ness of the 5valve head and 4valve flycuts, but it has been done before so someone should know.

The low compression of the pistons should allow for the clearance between the valves and pistons.. not certain, but that seems the obvious answer

True, I'd guess it wouldn't interfere, but the GZE pistons still have slight flycuts on them. People have done 20V head on ZE pistons before so it must work, but I have never had a solid answer on if it becomes interference (and I have looked into it a bit).

can you just use a miling machine to mill a small fly cut in GZE pistons?? how much lift is there on a 20V inlet cam?
