Default Re Registering After 3 months

For starters I am in NSW so this is in regard to the laws of NSW.

Soon I plan to purchase a shell which has likely not been registered for 3 months, and will certainly not have been by the time I have finished.

My question is how difficult is it to re register a car once it has passed the 3 months grace period for re registration? I have asked a family member who works for the RTA and she has told me I will need a blue slip, pink slip, and once I apply for registration at the RTA I will have a 99% chance of being called to the pits for an inspection. I may have mixed some of those details however, that was some time ago.

Considering my car will be substantially modified, are there other or easier ways of re registering? Any and all help and suggestions are welcome, and will be considered, ie dodgys, registering out of state and transferring etc.

    hi mate,
i bought mine over 18months ago, and it had been out of rego for 4months pior to that.
i have just finished rebuilding it. though it is pretty much stock.
from what i have been told all i need is a greenslip, blueslip (which i have, and i think the blue cancels out the need for a pinkslip).
but if yours is to be heavily modified then you'll need engineers certs.
if you need them take it to paul irish aka sexy 16. he'll be able to sort you out.

Yeh, my first thought was Paul, but I worry it could be more complicated then expected. Maybe I worry to much.

Anybody out there personally been through this?

yeah man its basically the same as getting a car imported throgh the pre 1985 rule which i did, just without having to do the engineering report to get it on the road. Although that could be handy and you might not get picked on for the mods

Cheers guys, I think I'll give the Irish man a call soon, perhaps should have just done that in the first place.

In nsw it just needs a blue slip, which is just like a more tougher pink slip, then your good to go, my ke was out of rego for over 3months and i just got a blue slip then registered it, and I didn't get called up to go over the pits again.
