    Default Proper Throwout Bearing

    Hey guys,

Picked up my clutch kit today and he supplied me with two throwouts both 'Nachi" brand. When we got the old one out it is quite alot different and the new one required slight modification to fit to the fork.

Because the new bearing is quite alot thinner, the pressure plate doesn't feel as though it's pushing in completely. Just wondering where people got their aftermarket or genuine toyota part from and roughly how much? As I will be changing them as soon as I can find the appropriate throwout.

Here's a pic. Left was in the car seems factory, right is the one we've installed.

    Appreciate any help.

Did you order an AE86 Kit? I got a cusco super single clutch and flywheel kit and it was the larger ~215mm dia. setup and it came with a throwout bearing like the one on the right. I can only presume its designed for the FWD car that the kit was designed for.

I ordered a AE86 throwout bearing from CBC and will be using that, although not installed at the moment...

It's not an AE86 kit, as I had to work around that to be able to get the 212mm plate and pressure plate. But he gave me the two types of throwout bearings that should of been what it would use.

There is a smaller one (Ears aren't as wide, referring to the taps that clip to the fork) and then there is the one I used. I'm not worried about how it fits now, but more the depth of the bearing. As the throw is now another 15-20mm shorter when the clutch is fully disengaged. So I'm not getting full use out of my modified pressure heavy duty pressure plate.

What does your AE86 throwout look like?

your new throwout bearing in the pic is a AE82/92 item, and isnt compatible in rwd.

im sure you could purchase one from repco/bursons, just ask for ae71 throwout/thrust
    bearing.

also when i rang repco and asked for a heavy duty clutch for AE71, he sed "aus or jap version?" i queried what the difference is, he said one is 200m and one 212mm.

so you can get smallport clutches from repco with he correct throwout bearing.

don't buy the new bearing from repco though. go to a bearing shop. we've got bearing wholesalers down here and they have everything you need. much cheaper than buying from repco.

yeah the one on the right does not contact the forks properly and i dare say it's sitting on a bit of an angle on the fork....

yeah. its fwd or maybe a k one. either way, youve got the wrong one, and NPC can supply you the right one, you just need to ask for it. they will have them on the shelf.

take yours in as a sample.

Swear I posted in this last night.

Yeah Ant got it from Doug. I didn't realise they were going to be different as I haven't done a T50 clutch before. Went out yesterday to ABS at capalaba and got the correct bearing for the sleeve part and got it pressed on, box came out new bearing went in and it's all good now.

We did a bit of ear modification to get the FWD one to work as there was no way the old clutch, flywheel and throwout was going back in, clutch is absolutely fucked and the old throwout you can only rotate it 5-6mm or so and then it seizes, as I could tell from my old pressure plate aswell.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Is working at it's full potential now and is very very grippy, but pedal is quite light.
