my car starts rev hunting after giving it a bit for a while (eg. yest at skidpan).
original part broke so i bought a replacment tps from just toyota wreckers like a yr ago and has occasionally done it since.
how can i tell if i have wrong tps for my smallport?

You may have to just adjust your TPS if it is actually the cause of the hunting. It should be 4 wires (earth, idle signal, 5v ref, signal) and product a 0v-5v signal for the ECU. This is the way both 20v and 16v tps work, though they have their wires swapped around.

I think there was a thread, quite a while ago now, on toymods that described resetting the tps to fix idle hunting. I believe you can loosen 1 or two screws and rotate the sensor. I believe a small shift has a big impact. I haven't had to do this, so just regurgitating web info.

Just try turning your TPS a bit at a time. My hunting problem was caused by the TPS and once tuned correctly, it ran perfect. Throttle response much better and hunting never to be heard of again.

also, may seem sily but it happend to me, make sure there is a bolt on the screw that sets ur cold start... mine went in and out due to the vibrations of the engine, took me a while to figure out what was happening.
