sounds like big plans.. cant wait to see it
Gday everyone!!
I have finally got on here to let you know about my AE86 N2 Replica plans for the car that I bought last year. This project has been in the making for about a year now and (when I have had time) I have been pulling the whole car too bits and seeing what will be needed for the new build up.
As I build the car aswell, I will have heaps of left over parts that I will be getting rid of VERY CHEAP aswell.
Plans so far will be:
- 1984 AE86 Sprinter Hatch
- JDM 4AGE Small Port Bottom End
- JDM 4AGE Bigport Head
- TRD Metal Head Gasket
- TRD Clutch
- TRD Ignition Leads
- T Series Rear Diff
- SSR Rims
- TRD Extractors
- TRD Suspension
Thats just for starters aswell. I will be keeping the engine mods fairly tame as the car will be street driven and road rule compliable. Thats just to make sure that I cant get defected by some idiot poilceman, that doesnt know anything. You guys know what I mean!
The pic is of the car when I bought it, and is now fully stripped at the moment. I have also cleaned the whole underbody and re-sealed/tarred it so it looks all new.
Next, I will be bolting the suspension and diff in so that the car is rolling. After that the body will be modified for the N2 Guards.
Will Update soon.
Oh, and have a great New Years Everyone!!
sounds like big plans.. cant wait to see it
She should be an awesome car when it is finished. BUT, I have been debating with my brothers (one of whom is a panel beater/spray painter) is what colour to paint it.
Do I paint it up as a proper N2 Replica with the stickers and everything?? Or do I paint it just one colour, but a nice colour?? I kinda had in mind the Ford "Citric Acid" paint colour (the limey green colour on most Falcons). Some like it some dont
But I will probably end up going for the replica paint job. It would look awesome going down the main raod all stickered up
The other good thing about this shell when I got is was, there was practically "NO" rust in her or panel damage at all!! I couldnt believe it!!!
Lucky bugger having no rust. My poor thing is at the same stage as yours, but I still have to do some panel cutting and welding...
What'd you use to re-seal it? Anything particular or just some run of the mill silastic?
Genuine N2 stickers and all! That'll be hot!
Get some nice long runner extractors too, some decent cams as well.
If it looks like an N2, at least give it some balls
Should be hot champ!!
That's the hardest part of the conversion. You have to cut about 2-3 inches from the rear guards so that the wide wheels will fit without hitting the original rim of the standard guards.
Here are a couple of pics that I found on Yahoo Japan from a place called Kai power when they did thier N2 race Car.
You can see in the car pic that they have cut out a fair amount of the rear guards so that they can get the N2 guards to accept large wheels.
yeah you'll definately need to cut toe original guard to fit big width and offset rims. There'll be massive flares covering it anyway
I've got an xr6 turbo in the citric acid..... i like it.
The series 1 was a lighter colour than the mark 2.
Just dont do the acid rush (more yellow and darker)
GL with the rest.
cant wait for this, i love n2's my favurite race car lol,
g/l with it
8AGE 1.9L only way to go!
