there is a place called gear concern in brisbane my work uses them for big and small gears in some cranes we work on they make up custome cogs and the like im not sure if they can help but they might be able to
I run a W57 gearbox in my KE70 race car behind a 20V turbo 7AGE motor,
and now that we are getting decent power out of it,
we have been having gearbox issues.
The car is a circuit race car only, and when run at full boost of 20psi,
we managed to break 3 W series boxes in a season, with two in two weekends,
until we reduced the boost and power to make them last.
Question for you all is other than PPG,
is there other people who make kits for the W series gearboxes to strengthen them?
Dont want to go to a R154 as they have there own issues, and are too heavy,
and clunky for what I want.
Would prefer not to go dogbox, but if that's the only option then I will look at it.
So anyone else have any idea's or know of some companies?

are you breaking gears or bearings???
i think i may need to get my w58 rebuilt
w58 boxs tend to blown syncros with high boost in 1st - 2nd gears ive opted for a electronic boost controller + ecu to control boost levels in 1st 2nd gears just to be on the save side
Have a word around amongst the rally boys. They tend to know about strong boxes.
The only other names I know are Hollinger and Modena.
Also have you considered a W58 instead of the W57. They are rumoured to be stronger, and some anecdotal evidence in post 8.
Hen
Definatly gears.
I have broken W57's, W55's the lot.
They are all the same anyway.
They all take the same bearings, syncro's and shift forks.
only different in the boxes are the number of teeth on the gears.
I have two boxes we repair and swap as we break them.
Have broken both alloy and steel centred boxes
Have done new bearings and have steel shift forks etc,
but just too much power.

what power does it make if ya dont mind me asking
Route6 and OS-giken DID sell gearsets (in j-land)
Unfortunately both are really hard to come by
440hp atw and it will eat a box in a race weekend.
But at a few psi boost less at 360-380 hp they will last a season,
but need the extra to keep up with the GTR's now.
does t50's and w boxs
1,2,3 gear set for a t50 is aournd 600-700. not sure about w boxs
