    money,
    engine,
turbo, (and wastegate if not internal)
    manifold,
    more money
ecu ( if running low boost you could get away with a gze computer and map sensor but it can only take so much) (and you might want t boost controller if said ecu doesnt have one)
you will ned to do something with the compression to lower it, be it H/G or pistons depending on how reliable you want it and how much cash you have.
Bigger brakes of your choice (again all depends on $$$)

And depengine on your gearbox diff combo - more money when the time comes that they break with the extra torque

I have never built one, and that is SOME of the stuff you will most likley need, do a search, not only here but the world wide web, there is quite alot of info,

    and to help us out:

How much power are you chasing/ what boost do you want to run through it
    What is your budget

Best to start with a 4AGZE. Turbro'ing a GE is ok but arguably not as reliable.

Then as rolla kid has listed.

If you own a sprinter and are starting out, spend all your cash on suspension, wheels and brakes first. This is where all the enjoyment comes from a hachi.

would i be correct in saying 7 psi is a reliable figure to be running on a big port? just thinking ahead for that lucky time where a bolt on kit shows up for cheap

The simplest way to do it would be to leave everything on the engine as it is now apart from:

    - Mount exhaust manifold and turbo. New dump pipe/exahast needed here too.
    - Turbo oil and water lines
    - New IC piping (and maybe IC depending on how your current one is setup)
    - Intake manifold depends on whether you have a bigport or smallport head (AE92 coilpack motors came as both I think). If bigport (originally AFM) then use either JDM RWD manifold or cut and shut 86kw mani. If smallport (originally MAP) use a cut and shut 100kw manifold (or JDM mani with a bigport -> smallport adaptor)
    - Retune your ECU

Alternator and other stuff should hopefully not need to be moved. It depends exactly where your turbo and piping sits.

    Good luck

all 4ages were map sensor, only in the US they were afm me thinks. in my case my sprintang used to be turbo so all the holes and shiz are cut out for a front mount so no relocating required.

it certainly is tempting if i had the money. but the right thing to do is suspension work

ben where would i be looking at to get my ecu remapped? and how much in terms of power gain are we looking at or power/torque band shifting. i have jdm 86 ecu atm so ideally id be selling that off and getting aus spec 4age ecu

yoshi, some quick points, though it sounds like you may need to start your own thread.

Some 4AGEs were AFM. AW11 ZE (and I assume GE), AE82 GE, early AE92 GZE, maybe even AE92 GE.

Pretty much no-one can remap Toyota ECUs (though I did hear rumours about Dr Drift doing something for 4As a while ago). For turbo you'd either have to use a ZE ECU, use a piggyback or do it properly and go aftermarket.

ah yehs aw11 i forgot about being afm, my apologies. piggy back ecu is the cheapest option obviously. just thought that maybe someone could do remapping because ive heard about it too.

should try to track down a buddy club ecu get a few ponies from that on a stock 4age
