I've tried some searches and did not find specifics on the head swap. The only thing I really want to know is if I could bolt the 16V head on to the 20V ST without having to change the pistons. If anybody has done this and can provide any information, it would be awesome.

Sprntrphle - Are you sure? I see where you're coming from, but have you actually tried it?

From what I hear, 20V head on 16V ZE bottom end works without munching valves. This may be the same.

it does work but it will no longer be a non interference engine. In other words a 16v and a 20v when they snap a belt dont touch valves, when you use a 20v block and a 16v head it will, but belts dont snap often and silver belts are cheap. Also use a 16v gasket

why do you want to do it cheap? cheap compression raise?

I want to do it cheap for now, because current budget does not allow me to have a full 20V swap. My current 4ag smokes more than I would like it to even though it pulls really good and I can smoke out people who piss me off on the roads. I have to add a quart of oil every week. I figure if I can do it this way, I can put on the 20V head later when I gather the rest of money to do the full 20V.

For this swap I use the 20V timing belt?? I would probably figure it out when I do it, but knowing before hand would save me a lot to time. Anyone know what the correct 20V timing belt match is for a USDM car???

the 16V head will bolt straight on. use the 16V head gasket and timing belt provided your 20V has the early type tensioner roller on the cam belt (the type with a spring for tensioning)

Looks like the head swap is going to happen this month. I failed my emissions test, the guy doing the pipe sniffer test says it failed because its burning oil.. I'll let you guys know how it goes...

im interested in doing the same build aswell.
can you use the 100kw pistons in it aswell? im not 100% but i believe they are a higher compression ratio aswell?
    thanks brad
