i was just looking into semi slicks
and wondering what is a good brand that arent to expensive but arnt cheap and crap
    i was after a 195-55-14 or a 205-55-14 tyre size
i will be running them on a 14'' x 7 inch wide rim

what do some people have on their ae86???

also im in sydney, so what would be a good tyre shop to contact about the slicks

    thank aeke7086

I'd recommend against 205 tyres. They are simply too wide for an ae86 and infact may reduce your road traction.

I've never run semi's before but I have no problems getting shitloads of front traction from Potenza G3's. For track grip racing they'd be definitely worth it, but for drift I dont think they're at all necessary.

i have a pair of 195/60 Dunlop Formula - R's that i got from the tip of all places. still have life on them though i imagine with that much time spent in the elements they will be of little use

i will be running them on a pair of MA61's with shitty 195/60's on the back at a track day

    one day.....

not much help to you, but i just got my net back and have to feed my post addiction

CHEAP and GOOD dont really go together when it comes to semi slicks..

im currently running on 195/50/15 (should of got 205) toyo R888 semis, and they are the best tyres i have ever driven on, been to one track day on them, the worked really well, but there only good for 5 or 6 laps on a really hot day.... but your looking at 260+ a tyre in my size...

my mate was using falken azenzis in 205/50/15 which are about 220$ a tyre and they aernt that special, they turn to mush when there hot and u have to run really low pressure to get the suckers to actually grip...

but yeah tyres are very important for circuit racing...

im running in a hill climb in canberra this weekend and i will see how the semis go when there relitvely cold...

Azenis arent actually an "R spec" tyre, they are a soft road tyre. They are the best option though for a cross over road tyre that will last ok on the track. R-Spec tyres arent very good for the street as they need temperature in them to get them to grip properly(so they are just dangerous in the wet!) and they degrade once they have been through so many heat cycles.

meh same differnece, toyo r888 are really good cold like ive driven on the street with them to an event, and my brakes take longer to heat up then the tyres... and in the wet there fine... just like driving with normal street tyres...
