you guys think a 4ac running with a T series and locked centre would be able to snap axles?

But im (along with MANY others) running a locked T series behind a 4AGE and its showing no signs of dying.

id say it would be almost impossible.
torque is what kills diffs and boxes. i just dont think a 4AC has enough torque to do it. even with a 16v t series axles seem to have a hard time breaking.
but in saying that. it comes down you.
    how you drive.
if you like doing roll backs.
    what size tyres you run.
if you hit gutters or not.
what you do with your car.
    if you dump the clutch.
what oil you run in the dif.
    etc etc etc.

you might break one from a few years of a hard beat down every day with 185/60s on a drag strip.

find a closer industrial estate? a car with a snapped axle can still drive fine. i guess. ive done it before for like 60kms and i didnt wreck a housing or anything.

pretty much safe as houses with a 4AC and a t series but man...

If you hear the tyres skipping on the road as you turn slowly, this means a massive amount of torque and twist is happening at the axles. Regardless of engine, the axle will snap eventualy with a lot of normal driving, doing U turns etc... It may take 6 months or 3 years, no one knows. It will happen. There is no warning, unless you take the axle out and have a good look at the splines. You can often see where it has started to twist.

Very well said. Its not a matter of if, its really a matter of when because of course by locking the diff it is well out of its manufactured spec for torque loading on the axles.

will be fine for ages. just try to get some "virgin" axles. even s series will last ages, as the axles are pretty much the same.

one trick to making this stuff last is not to thrash it cold. a good 15 minutes of driving before you slide it and it will live much longer.
