If you're talking about standard springs in a *E7* or an AE86, spring compressors aren't really needed.

Out back, just undo the shocks, jack the car up from rails and the springs should be able to be pulled out.

Up front, undo the top strut nut to the shocks, jack the car up and remove the strut like normal. The springs should come out. Putting them back in however, you may need a spring compressor. If cut it should be easy to put back in.
    Previous ride: 4AGE powered KE70.

    Current: JZX100 Chaser and '73 Datsun 240z.

cut one coil at a time, both sides then put car back together lower it and see if your happy with the height. keep cutting till you get the desired ride height

^ or shorter shocks. I agree with Hachi-Rocku, better than cutting 4 coils off and finding out the cars undrivable.

just cut the springs while in the car, 2 coils is best.

you should never need spring compressors in a ke. all you have to do is wind the spring down the strut below the spring seat. that way it relieves the pressure off the spring and makes it easy to undo everything
